First timer V. Sharma’s psychological thriller MIRROR GAME – AB KHEL SHURU is a ludicrously plotted and flawed thriller made from the broken mirrors of Hitchcock, M. Night Shyamalan that desires to ‘picture’ something but says nothing intriguing that indulges you into a captivating and thrilling mind game it imagined to be.

V. Sharma writes this predictable tale that does opens decently with a psychiatrist – Professor Jay Verma (Parvin Dabas) who is struggling with his Schizophrenia and betrayal of his wife Tanya (Shanti Akkineni), but rapidly finds itself pawned in the predictability zone when Jay hatches a plot with his student Ronnie (Dhruv Bali) and finds trapped in his own net.

On paper, this may sound interesting and with the added twist of Schizophrenia and Multiple Personality Disorder, MIRROR GAME claims to be qualified in the interesting psycho thriller genre that requires the audience to be continuously guessing and suspecting the elements and characters as they come by. The Hitchcock way as we say, but alas, V. Sharma lacks imagination and the innovation to keep the eyes and mind glued in this plot which lacks layers, identification and proper characterization. Forget the mystery it’s a poor misery.

It’s so easy and simple for the maker to introduce characters like Detective Shenoy (Sneha Ramachander) and police psychologist Dr Roy (Pooja Batra – why Pooja why.. you deserve better options) to pop up without any establishment or proper introduction in this story.

With serious damages in the screen play that are beyond repair like Jay Verma who is suffering from Schizophrenia is shown as a smart operator without any conflict coming from his disease, those rare murmuring with himself is the only indication which is hard to digest. Further the makers juvenile believe that the characterization of Jay’s friend Omi Vaidya will add nuances falls flat as this writer identified the purpose in the second scene itself.
